STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE

The Student Affairs Office (SAO) serves as a link between the students and the administration. It shall provide programs to enable students to actualize their full potential.

The SAO shall implement all policies, rules, regulations related to student behavior and discipline, organizations and interest groups including the inculcation of Christ-centered values.

VISION

Instrument in making the students' journey in St. Scholastica's College Tacloban meaningful and fulfilling as they prepare themselves for the Health Care Profession.

MISSION

The Student Affairs Office seeks to contribute to the holistic formation and development of the students by providing relevant and quality co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. It commits itself to enhance the students' educational experiences and develop them to be creative, resourceful, socially responsible, disciplined and unquestionable integrity.

Objectives
  • Develops and upgrades student's potentials and capabilities in leadership by providing avenues for training skills development
  • Provides programs and services relevant to student needs in order to foster a safe, healthy, conducive and dynamic Scholastican environment;
  • Cultivates continuous improvement and innovation in programs and services;
  • Maximizes opportunities and provides access to enhance student talents and interests to ensure social, cultural and holistic growth;
  • Provides opportunities to welcome students into the Benedictine community with the aim of embracing and developing the Scholastican spirit and culture;
  • Strengthens community partnership and student spirit of volunteerism by promoting active involvement in community outreach activities; and
  • Provides a nurturing environment in the delivery of student support services that focuses on student health, wellness, and success.
  • Establish linkages with institutions that will greatly help in the formation of the students e.g. Missionaries of Charity, SOS, Lingap Center, and Parishes.

Based on these objectives, the Student Affairs Office is divided into four programs, namely:

  • Student Formation and Development Program
  • Student Activity Program
  • Student Orientation Program
  • and Student Outreach Program
Student Affairs Office
  1. Student Orientation Program
    • aims to welcome students to SSCT and features talks on the school's vision, mission, thrust, theme, policies, programs and services. All new students undergo a one-day orientation seminar.
  2. Student Formation and Development Program
    • is a leadership formation for student organization leaders, Class Presidents and Officers of the Student Council.
  3. Student Activity Program
    • includes co-curricular activities, programs and projects by the different organizations and the Student Council (SC) that compliments the academic program that is coordinated with organizations inside and outside SSCT. There are fourteen (14) dynamic student organizations.
  4. Student Outreach Program
    • for social awareness and involvement, consciousness raising on contemporary issues local and global.

Student Activities

Activities involving students which require additional safety measures or those which are off-campus and/or entail travel shall be properly coordinated with the Coordinator of the Student Affairs Office through an official written request signed by the President of the Organization, Faculty Adviser and the Dean of College at least three (3) days before the function. Expressed permission and statement of waiver from parent or guardian are required.

Guideline for the Evaluation of Activity
  1. All feedback report must be submitted at least a week after the activity.
  2. All organizations must provide evaluation sheets for all minor/major activities. The collated results must be submitted together with the feedback report.
  3. The Head of Student Affairs must conduct random audits of the organization activities.
  4. In the cases where any activities are found to be non-existent, the organization is automatically disqualified.
