HOSPITALS OF AFFILIATIONS
The Related Learning Experiences (RLEs) are teaching-learning opportunities that are designed to develop the competencies of our students utilizing processes in various health situations. These could be sourced from, but not limited to lying-in clinics, schools, industrial establishments, community, out-patient clinics, and general and specialty hospitals.

The base hospital where students are deployed primarily for their clinical placements is the Divine Word Hospital located in Tacloban City. The Divine Word Hospital is a DOH-accredited tertiary health care facility and managed by the Benedictine Sisters in the Philippines.
Clinical Areas of rotations includes the following:

Other health facilities that are being utilized by the College of Nursing includes specialized areas for supplementary clinical learning of our students such as mental, orthopedics and communicable diseases. We have maintained our Contract of Affiliation with various hospitals within the region and in Cebu City to provide and maintain an environment conducive to the attainment of our teaching-learning objectives. These hospitals are as follows:

The Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center is a government tertiary and training hospital that provides comprehensive health care services for the people of Region VIII. As such, it is equipped with all the services required for a Level III capacity hospital and more. It boasts to be the oldest government health care facility in Region VIII and one of the two Department of Health (DOH) retained facilities under the DOH Regional Health Office. The hospital serves as the end referral hospital of the DOH Service Delivery Network (SDN) as well as the region's designated teaching- training hospital.

Leyte Provincial Hospital, a Level 1 referral hospital under the responsibility of the Provincial Government of Leyte, is situated in Palo, Leyte. This 150-bed capacity hospital provides services in General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and General Medicine.

Initially, the SHRC is a 25-bed capacity hospital retained by the Department of Health (DoH). With only about 140 personnel on board, it caters to patients coming from Palo, consisting of 33 barangays and the nearby towns of Tanauan, Tolosa, Mayorga, Jaro and Sta. Fe, Samar and as far as Surigao.
At present, the SHRC has already expanded its medical and ancillary services and attended to patients with various illnesses and diseases. Attending to pregnant women and to those who will give birth are also on top of their list. Their target is to be a recognized 200-bed capacity facilty.
From a research hospital focusing on addressing schistosomiasis in the area, the SHRC is continuing to upgrade its facilities, management system and manpower skills to provide the health care needs by its growing number of patients in the region.

VSMMC is a general tertiary medical center teaching training medical facility owned by the Philippine Government. It aims to provide health care services that are available, affordable, accessible, and acceptable to all regardless of social status.
Presently, the VSMMC is implementing its new direction with the development of Specialty and Subspecialties under the different clinical departments. These Specialty and Subspecialties include the General Surgery, Neuro Surgery, Uro-Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Orthopedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Pathology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery, Emergency Medicine (which is the first of its kind outside Metro Manila); Family Medicine and Pediatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine Department, Dental Services Unit and the National Voluntary Blood Services Program.

The Psychiatric Nursing Department specifically caters to patients with mental health conditions, providing specialized care, treatment, and rehabilitation services.

Palo Rural Health Unit (Palo RHU) is a primary healthcare facility located in Palo, Leyte, Philippines. It is part of the national government's initiative to provide accessible and affordable healthcare services to rural communities. The facility focuses on preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative health services, catering to a wide range of health concerns in the local population. The Palo RHU plays a vital role in improving public health outcomes, particularly in addressing maternal and child health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, and other community health issues.
The health unit is staffed by doctors, nurses, midwives, and other healthcare workers who provide a variety of services including immunizations, maternal care, family planning, disease prevention, and general medical consultations. It also serves as a training and placement site for students in health-related fields, offering opportunities for hands-on experience in public health and clinical care.
